TURKS & CAICOS

The unspoiled gem of the Caribbean

Located in the West Indies of the Caribbean, the Turks and Caicos Islands (“TCI”) is a tropical archipelago of 40 low-lying coral islands found southeast of the Bahamas.

The Turks and Caicos Islands is a relatively small overseas territory of the United Kingdom (~ 366 square miles) that has been growing quickly in popularity among American and European tourists. The reasons are numerous: pristine white sand beaches surrounded by crystalline turquoise waters, vibrant and healthy reefs, world-class diving, outstanding offshore fishing, and consistently sunny weather – to name a few.

Only eight of the islands are populated and, as the name suggests, they are divided into two island groups: the eastern Turks islands comprising the main islands of Grand Turk and Salt Cay, and the western Caicos islands, comprising the main islands of South Caicos, East Caicos, Middle (or Grand) Caicos, North Caicos, Providenciales and West Caicos.
More than 80% of TCI’s 40,000 residents reside on Grand Turk, Providenciales and South Caicos. Grand Turk hosts the territory’s main commercial center, Cockburn Town, and is the seat of government. North and Middle host the other 20% of the population and have a large land mass and miles of unspoiled white sand beaches.
Providenciales, or “Provo” serves as the primary destination for tourists by air or yacht, and boasts numerous luxury resorts, shops and restaurants, as well as region’s top adventure and excursion operators, including PRIVÉ Fine Ocean Charters. It is also home to Grace Bay Beach, an incredible 10-mile stretch of white sand beach that has been named by many travel publications as “the best beach in the world”.

The tropical savanna climate of the Turks and Caicos Islands is one of the major attraction for visitors from around the world.

The warmest temperatures occur between July and September, reaching up to 32°C (90°F). The coolest months are from January to February with a comfortable temperature range of 24 to 27°C (75 to 81°F). The islands are kept comfortable year-round by gentle trade winds.

While the rainy season runs from September through November, visitors can still enjoy approximately 350 sunny days each year. However, it is important to note that hurricane season throughout the Caribbean region lasts from June to November, with September posing the highest risk month for storms.
